I was invited to join The Photographic Society of Philadelphia about a week ago. I visited their website and I was disappointed for them that the country's (the U. S.) oldest active club was presented so poorly. It was shameful. Besides, I thought, if I was going to join, this website is the first thing that must change. so, I whipped up a "canned" website and demonstrated it to the club's president.
The club's president was exceedingly delighted of new website design, and with hopes renewed, she gave me the go-ahead to immediately replace the old website. For the week, I had a slideshow teaser that had nothing to do with the Society on the site. Finally, on the day of release I uploaded another teaser slideshow that revealed a 2-second peek of the Society's new website before we officially revealed the entire site a few hours later in the afternoon. It was fun teasing the members :)
The Photographic Society of Philadelphia was re-born on November 1, 2007. So here we are, looking at the world through a camera's lens for nearly a century and a half. Founded in 1860, the Society is the oldest active photography club in the country.
Here's the new site: www.phillyphotosociety.org
Come on over, and if this club interests you, then you're welcome to join.
