Not surprisingly, when we asked what you wanted to do for this year's big project (I've been gently reminded by those down under that this is not summer everywhere so we are no longer calling it the Big Summer Project), you were of a mixed mind. I guess that's about right for a tribe, isn't it?
Due to the overwhelming coolness of the folks who make up the Utata tribe, we had more than 1.1 million page loads at the Utata site last month - people are going to see your work and this is your chance to show 'em what you got.
We have come up with an idea that has a little something for everyone and we're pretty darn excited! We're producing a single volume, single issue zine which will be available on the web and in print.
But, back to the basics, we'll get to all that good stuff...
We're calling it The Utatan. Presented in zine style, with articles and other interesting (we can't tell you everything just now!) material, there are six categories and therefore six types of project submissions you can make.And yes, you can make submissions in each of the categories!
Coming up with a single themed idea for such a diverse group proved impossible so we decided we needed a showcase. Utata has members all over the photographic spectrum and we wanted this big project to reflect the diversity of the tribe and give everyone a chance to shine in their own unique way.
