Stock photographers will often use a variety of lighting, perspective and composition choices to create a series of alike but different images from which a client can select their favorite. The portfolio section is meant to help you to build your own "voice" by creating six new images that would wow a potential museum curator, agent or other person in a position to put you to work with your photography. Your portfolio should reflect the sort of work you wish to pursue - if you want to be hanging in a gallery, make six pieces you'd frame and hang, or if you wanted to be a wedding photographer, you'd post six images related to wedddings - and so on. One of the most fabulous things about flickr and Utata is the sheer number of people who are engaged in personal projects that involve their photography. From poems to collections of shoes with narrative to essays and digital scrapbooking and illustrated fiction. We're very excited about this theme! We've provided a place for folks who want to write essays, poems or have other creative projects which they want to share but which don't quite fit into any other category. Presented with medium images and text (alike to the Speaks project) each entrant can use up to six images and has six pages to display their project. Photo Journalism is a style of writing with photographic illustratations in such a way that the photos are an integral part of the piece. Traditionally, photo journalism has been used to cover world events, depict social conditions, reveal facts and tell stories. A photo journalistic piece should mostly "stick to the facts" and provide a balanced coverage. Photo journalism pieces will be presented in a single article format with one primary photo and up to five others which may be used as illustration throughout.
