Line. Form. Color. Texture.

That's all you need. That's all there is. Line draws the eye, transports it from place to place with the free-handed fluidity of water. Form fills the eye, satisfies the eye's appetite with generosity and leaves it sated. Color entices and seduces the eye, beguiles it with promises and then fulfills those promises. Texture chafes the eye, keeps it from getting too comfortable and provides necessary friction.

The right arrangement of line, form, color and texture transforms a red sofa into a work of abstract art. In a way, it ceases to be a sofa, or a depiction of a sofa; in a way it becomes purely an experience of the eye.
