Text By Greg Fallis

One table, two chairs, one vase, two flowers. There is a coffee house alchemy that can turn one table, two chairs, one vase and two flowers into...into any number of things. A cozy, intimate setting where two people can get to know each other. A private table where a struggling writer can work on her novel. An invitation to meet somebody new and talk about things you've never talked about before. A neutral arena where nobody has to talk at all.

Table, chairs, vase, flowers...only one element is lacking in order for the alchemical reaction to take place. People. When somebody sits down in one of those chairs, all the coffee house molecules begin to reorganize, to transfigure themselves, adapting to that new, unpredictable element. If you watch closely, if you pay attention, you can see it happen.

One table, two chairs, one vase, two flowers. Just add people and stir.
