Berlin

What better place to stand in an abandoned airstrip than in the middle of the runway? To stand on the dotted line and look East and West and see one Berlin when once it was divided.  To savour a long history that started with a Wright brother in 1909, saw sweets dropped by parachute to break a blockade, and ended at Midnight in 2008 when the last planes tooks to the skies.

The airport may be closed but the story doesn’t end here – trees have been planted, a park has been opened where lovers will walk hand in hand. Children run, while parents stroll behind. Kites and model aeroplanes whiz about the sky. People scan the skies and think of destinations far away.

Though the airport is closed, dreams of  holidays and honeymoons still take off from here.
