ann

Here’s Ann.

She’s a stranger, one of one hundred that Monika plans to walk right up to and ask to take their photo.

I cannot help but marvel at the thought: One hundred questions to one hundred strangers. One hundred faces with one hundred smiles. Two hundred twinkles in two hundred eyes. A hundred ways of staring/glancing/gazing/avoiding the camera’s gaze. One hundred shifting pairs of feet while Monika sizes up the image in the viewfinder, while she adjusts, reframes and shoots.

This one, Ann’s expression is a little bemused. A warm smile, a generous twinkle in the eyes. The patterned pinks of her clothes against the  blues of the background, creating softness and lightness that suit Ann down to the ground.

There are more in the series – the set is growing. One hundred strangers who, when asked, say “Sure you can.”
