The rules of Iron Photographer are as easy as one two three.

“The first element is a circle…” Yep, we got that, we got circles.

“The second element is string… We don’t care what the string is made of — jute, horsehair, hemp, mithril, the mane of a unicorn. All we care is that it’s string. Not rope, string.”

Definitely string. Guitar string to be precise. But yeah, string, not a problem there….

But wait! Hold them horses — tie them up with mithril and unicorn hair while we check this out.

“CAVEAT: As always, the first element and the second element MUST be two separate items. If you use string to form your circle, you MUST use a different sort of string as the string element.”

Uh-oh. Isn’t that string in a circle? It clearly breaks the rules.

And yet… no, that little thingamajigwhatsit at the end of the string — that’s a circle, right? And that circle of string — it’s actually a coil, not a circle. So yeah, we got two things. We’ve got string and we’ve got a circle.

“The artistic element is that final photograph should be in shot black and white. That’s pretty much self-explanatory, isn’t it.”

Pretty much. And we’ve got black and white – or shades of grey at least.

So what we’ve got is:

String that is string without being made of string. String that is most definitely not a circle, though you could be forgiven for confusing the passing resemblance.

A circle, which is definitely not made from string of any shape or form but is a little thingamajigwhatsit.

And black and white which is what it always is — not black and white but shades of grey with some black and white thrown into the mix.

Which all adds up to a damned near perfect Iron Photograph.
