Goats in Sweaters

So city kid, based on a couple of trips to the petting zoo you thought you knew all there was to know about goats.

a) Goats have satanic eyes with letterbox pupils.

b) They’ll eat anything that isn’t nailed down.

c) They have spiky horns and they know how to use them.

d) Goat cheese is a heavenly, creamy delicacy, or worse than armpit scum, depending on personal preference.

e) Finally, aren’t goats unravelled and made into cashmere sweaters and coats… or is that bunny wunnies?

Then this week news hit the internet that Queen Mary University of London researchers have found goats to be far more intelligent than previously thought. Tests have shown that goats can quickly learn to solve complex tasks and have exceptionally long lasting memories. It was a small test group, only twelve,  they showed themselves capable of solving many-step tasks in order to get a fruity reward, and they remembered the technique when tested again months later. That might seem smart, but really these four goats, goats in sweaters, sweaters that perfectly co-ordinate and are the essential spring accessory for any freshly sheared kid, these are what I would call really smart goats.
