wish flowers

Kiddo and I sprawled in the damp, shaggy grass to stalk “wish flowers” this morning.

For that moment, I was back in that childhood world when at the right angle dandelions are as tall as sycamore trees. When long grass becomes a jungle full of lions and tigers. When the morning sun hovers above a dry Saharan desert that appears like magic in your own back yard. When seed-heads make wishes and wishes always come true.

We were almost late for school. It was glorious.
