Panta Rhei: A flow of stones

In celebration of the Weekend Project.

Panta Rhei – everything flows. Heraclitus wrote, “In the same river we both step and do not step, we are and are not.”

Rivers flow, seasons change, we grow up and grow old as the world flows on around us.

Stones are no different. Rock formations crack and flake apart, becoming boulders then rocks which dance over each other in a stream, rough edges smoothing, on and on until they have fragmented into dust or grains of sand.

Everything flows. It can’t be stopped but we can stop and take notice — next time it won’t be the same river and we won’t be the same us.
