Tired Swimmer

When future you sees this picture will you remember why you swam so hard that day? Was it to escape from the impending reality of a stuffy classroom, from the restrictions of routine and regulations? Did you swim and imagine that pretty grinning Olympian? Did you submerge yourself so you could be a primeval swamp thing, pushing through the blur, bubbling to the surface of a pristine planet? Did you dive to block the noise of others, so you could find your own mind? Was it just so you could escape the heat and midges to enjoy the sensation of cool fluid movement?

Nothing depends on you remembering, the fact is that you swam until you were tired and then you closed your eyes and smiled.
