The Daily Ink is the voice of Utata. Yes, your voice, our voices ... all the voices. We'd be tickled pink if our members helped us define that voice. And this, Utatans, would be your chance to do that.

For more information on Fair UseI've been eagerly following BayRoadPhoto's "Shot from the hip" thread for the few days since its inception, and it just keeps getting better and better. I'd not realized before just how many things there are to love about this genre:
I also think it's awesome that this thread inspired -rade- to take his first "from the hip" shot - which turned out wonderfully.
Want to give it a go yourself? Digital Photography School offers the following tips:
-Position yourself strategically (ie, where you expect something interesting to happen)
-Use a wide-angle lens to give yourself more leeway in capturing the subject
-Make yourself unobtrusive by "hiding" behind a foreground element
-Don't worry about the pictures being crooked; it actually tends to add visual interest.
And if you do get some hip shots of your own - we want to see them!!
