One of the most fun flickr toys i've seen in a while, Quasimondo's wicked Picturedisko flash application lets you search through the Squared Circle group pool, grab photos and play them on a virtual turntable.
You know .. as if it was a record?
As the needle passes over a pixel, Picturedisco figures a note to play that represents the colour of that pixel.
The result isn't exactly "musical", but it is very novel. You can play with the spin speed, search the pool by tag, grab the record and 'scratch' it back and forth. You can also get more control over the noise by using the 'notes' panel. There's an empty "instruments" panel that would probably make it sound a bit better, and the ability to spin non-squircles would be welcome .. but that's how it is with works in progress like this.
Anyhow, it is a fun way to scratch away some time. A great toy with excellent attention to detail, making sounds from pictures - a novelty in the very best sense.

Fun stuff! I'll have to try it when I get home though. Computer at work has no sound.

This is brilliant! I love totally useless but incredibly clever gigs like this. The thought alone is enough to make me smile.

The narcissist in me loves the very most that I can put my OWN PICTURES on there.
