The Daily Ink is the voice of Utata. Yes, your voice, our voices ... all the voices. We'd be tickled pink if our members helped us define that voice. And this, Utatans, would be your chance to do that.

For more information on Fair UseUtata code guru and Flickr Mashups author David Wilkinson, who you might better know as Dopiaza, has released a wicked new way to follow Utata Group projects: The Utata Screensaver.
The screensaver allows you to select a Utata project and then displays a slideshow of photos from that project. It hooks into the standard Window's screensaver functionality, so that whenever you step away from your PC for a few minutes, you'll return to a beautiful stream of photos from a Utata project.
It's pretty simple to install, as David explains in his detailed instructions:
To run this screensaver, you first need to have installed version 2.0 of Microsoft's .NET Framework. If you don't already have it, you can download it from here.
Then, you need to go and get the screensaver itself, which you can find on my web site, here.
Unzip the contents of the downloaded zip file and place the Utata Project Screen Saver.scr file into your windows directory. For most people, this will be C:\WINDOWS.
Once installed, open up the Control Panel and Select Display. You should then be able to configure the screen saver in the normal way.
One of the coolest things about Utata, second only to the community itself, is all the great infrastructure that exists to support the group. Most of this is web based and focused on the Utata.org site, but now you can have a little piece of Utata sitting on your computer at home - vibrant and full screen. This really is one of the best ways to really appreciate the quality of the shots submitted to projects.

It makes sitting in front of the computer and not working much more entertaining. Beautiful images hypnotically changing in front of you...what's not to love?
