The Daily Ink is the voice of Utata. Yes, your voice, our voices ... all the voices. We'd be tickled pink if our members helped us define that voice. And this, Utatans, would be your chance to do that.

For more information on Fair UseIt's approaching winter in the more northerly climes, and you know what that means: warm fuzzy knitted things! Under the wonderful influence of my housemate, I've picked up knitting again, and am eager to undertake ambitious and complicated projects which are far beyond my actual skill level. Ambitious and complicated projects that produce items which are actually useful are even better! And thus we have the train of thought that led to my Googling "knitted camera bag" earlier today.
Understandably, point-and-shoot style pouches seem to be the most popular, since DSLRs demand something a lilttle sturdier than your average knitted creation. (Though if I found some Kevlar yarn, I might be game to try....) Here are a few different styles I dug up patterns for:
A fairly straightforward drawstring pouch
A fancier version, in cashmere!
And here's an over-the-shoulder bag.
I offer as a disclaimer that I have not actually tried any of these patterns, take no responsibility for your camera's safety, etc etc. But at the least it's something other than yet another scarf, eh? And if you make them, I'd love to see the results.
Oh, and finally, it's crochet, not knitting, and there's no pattern, BUT -- this is pretty darned cool too.

Now *there's* a set of perfect leftover yarn projects if I ever saw one!

those are very cool ... but if I'm ever fortunate enough to have a stash of cashmere yarn, I'm not going to knit it into something that goes next to my camera. I'm going to knit it into something that goes next to ME! :)
