The Daily Ink is the voice of Utata. Yes, your voice, our voices ... all the voices. We'd be tickled pink if our members helped us define that voice. And this, Utatans, would be your chance to do that.

For more information on Fair UseI wonder how the trends in the larger economy, and its impacts on individual pocket books, will affect the course of photography on flickr.
If it will affect flickr at all.
I looked around and was able to find a report on consumer sales since September. 'Big Ticket' items such as digital SLRs are propping up the market, while overall consumer spending has declined slightly. Perhaps this is the calm before the storm. When a recession hits, typically spending on expensive items declines, and this could definitely impact the amount of money people are willing to spend on photographic equipment, films and prints.
Will this lead to flickr photographers doing more with less? Embracing a less polished aesthetic? Picking up a cheaper, used, manual lenses over a brand new automatic ones?
I'm also curious to see whether people start taking cameraphone photography to a different level. Manufacturers are pushing new "smart phones", which often have much better uploading tools than traditional camera laden mobile phones. This could bring in a new group of casual photo-sharers, though it's unclear if flickr would be the best fit for these types.
Needless to say, I'm remaining very curious regarding the evolution of photosharing and whether or not it takes a twist at this point after becoming somewhat predictable of late.
