Catherine Jamieson is a retired business executive who lives in wee-little sea-side town in Nova Scotia, Canada with a spoiled cat, and every CD The Tragically Hip ever recorded. The kids are in college - here and there and everywhere. Now earning a living as a photographer and a writer, she has published her multi-award winning photo blog since the mid nineties and is the founder of Utata.
Published in a variety of print publications including newspapers, magazines, encylopaedias, atlases and travel guides, Catherine also shows her work in galleries and does commission portraits. She has written a book on photo blogging (Create Your Own Photo Blog) and one on Portrait Photography(Digital Portrait Photography and LIghting, Wiley, July 2006) and is currently working on her third book.

I had to borrow a quote to impart a feeling, my feeling of Catherine's art. When looking through Catherine's work, one cannot help but feel a sheer poetry and sense of wonder. You get the sense that she is in fact, shooting the stars off in her own backyard. It is not just her art that is a natural draw, it is also her persona, her apporoach to the craft and her treatment of the subject matter.
