About Me
I grew up in Dublin, Ireland and got into photography as a teenager using a 2nd hand Praktica 35mm SLR. After a lengthy absence, I got into photography again in late 2004 and have had my finger on the shutter release button ever since.
While I love the convenience of digital photography, I focus mainly onto film these days. My style is dictated by whatever camera I am holding at the time since every camera has it's own characteristics.
Currently I live in San Jose, California, USA with my wife Jennifer.
My Tools Of The Trade
Canon EOS Digital Rebel, Canon EOS Rebel 35mm SLR, Lomo LC-A, Lomo Smena 8M, Holga CFN 120, Diana-F 162B, Harrow (Diana Clone), Polaroid Pronto! B, Yashica Mat-124G, Olympus XA and XA2, and an Agfa Click-I.
Stepping into Dave's photos can tilt your world on its side. He combines a very spare, modern sense of design and composition with his fascination for vintage cameras to lure us into a world almost as it might have been, yet with a twist. Humor, a sharp eye for detail and a deft sense of composition combines with oddly harmonious color combinations to create a slightly skewed and tilted world. It's a special sort of place that makes you watch the rides, twist your head to see the unusual, change your perspective to try to see the world the way he does; you wish to linger there. Dave sees the world in a special way and luckily he's willing to share it with us.
