A traditional career takes up most of my time so everyday life is the subject of most of my photos. When I do get out..it is usually to the parks and farmland that circles home or the occasional trips I take for work. I have graduated from bringing my camera along to special events, to now having my little point and shoot with me all the time. A dangerous signal of my downhill spiral into a full addiction...
I've always dreamed about one day driving cross-country to see the towns and cities that I wouldn't otherwise have reason to visit. Until then, I rely on photographers who live in these places to let me see these worlds through their eyes.
Dee Johnson does this with her beautiful photography of Indiana. Thanks to her lovely images, I can visit a Midwest that looks as beautiful and as magical as the mountains and beaches with which I am so much more familiar. And like me, Dee is working with a camera that, while decent, isn't quite up to the task of realizing the images she sees in her mind. Still, even with that "handicap," she has managed to produce beautiful, evocative photographs. And that, truly, is the mark of a great photographer.
