Howdy folks, most people call me Sam (never Sammy). Welcome to my little section of Flickr. I hope you find some interesting/amusing/random bits of pictorial inspiration.
A little about me. I recently returned to photography. I am a visual artist, graphic designer, occasional private chef/caterer and sometime musician. I've worked in a variety of mediums including, web-graphics, graphic design, set design, cell animation, large scale retail displays and windows, as well as traditional painting and illustration.
I have a not so closeted fascination with Hello Kitty, rainbows or rainbow colored things, rubber ducks and office supplies. I'm a foodie and shop-aholic. I'm a sucker for random colorful things.
I'm not above spending ridiculous sums of money to buy supplies for my photos. A recent shopping list:
3lbs of asst. sized jawbreakers
Lots of foam core and poster board in asst colors.
20 boxes of crayons (but they were the cheap dollar store ones)
6 dozen ea. red, blue, and silver Xmas ball ornaments
rubber ducks
Slinkies
4lbs of gumballs
transluscent pushpins
1k each aqua and pink lite brite pegs
The foodie and chef in me is offended by Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee yet I've a morbid fascination with SPAM. Most curious.
I live in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest, which provides an amazing backdrop to my photography. Our Winter climate isn't really conducive to camera gear. I save my scenic and nature shots for fair weather. Winter/wet weather shooting usually involves random household objects and food.
I came of age in the 80's. I love scatalogical pop culture references and trivia. My lack of an attention span makes reading or sitting through Hollywood drivel difficult. I think the last book I read was one of Anthony Bourdain's wonderfully snarky books or some biography about some artist, its been a long while. I have been known to veg out all day to the Food Network and the Cartoon Network though. I enjoy music, mostly classical and electronica.
Oh, and important to note, I am a smart a$$ and my sarcasm is notorious. Consider yourselves warned.
