I was never able to choose between word and image. So after many explorations in both directions I became specialized in its connection. Photography has become an active part of my work since 2003, when a friend gave me a small digital camera on loan and I started a 'visual column' in the local newspaper. Twice a week a detail of typically Dutch citylife was published - a little square photo with a few words to provoce some more thought and opinion about our daily world. After a year it became a book. Since then my texts show a tendency to the minimum and I finally start to feel at home. Yes, I still remember writing my first letter (the a of course) and making my first conscious drawing (a farewell to Amsterdam)and taking my first picture (the Henry Dunant, a well know ship on a river). All this goes back to early childhood, but somehow I did not stop ever since...
