When exploring Laura Bell's portfolio I felt as if I was looking at the work of three artists, each of varying styles, unified by an abiding attention to detail and her use of photography to tell stories.
Of the images in this gallery, Laura's devoted parenting is shown, and displayed well. The second Laura has a botanist's mind combined with great skill in macro photography. Her images of flora, particularly rain dampened ones are at once delicate and vibrant. The third Laura is a self-described transplant from the Eastern US to the West and her work glories in the spaces, lighting, and drama of the big country. Laura's art is drawn together by her interest in storytelling and how each image fits into her life story; to only look at her photographs is to miss a significant part of what her portfolio offers. Do look to her other works - to do otherwise would be to miss the ferns for the trains.
