I'm a photography enthusiast that likes all cameras, but I have a particular fondness for film.
My film works are a reflection of my blurred understanding of the relationships between the art and science of film. Enamored with visual experimentation and production, examining and documenting my surrounds through the lens of a camera is an extension of this passion.
In recent years I have developed a keen interest in exploring the limits of analog effects on film. My desire to reveal the poignancy and beauty of the everyday and to evoke wonder through unusual takes on often-seen subjects, has led me to manipulate photographic tools and materials in unconventional ways.
Using various combinations of expired slide film, obsolete cameras with peculiar quirks and flaws, plastic cameras and lenses, colour gel flashes, and unorthodox processing methods, I yield the shifted colour, darkened shadows and blown highlights that I hope infuse my views of daily life and familiar travel vistas with a unique vividness.
I also use a digital SLR and use it to photograph prety much anything and everything.
I saw Jerrold's photos for the first time about 6 months ago at a show that he had back from his life in Japan. I was blown away by his compositions and his brilliant use of cross processing.
Well before most people even heard about x-processing and well before anyone had made a PS action Jerrold had mastered the techniques, aging old film like vintage wines. What more can I say except go and have a look at his photographs.
