My granddad and my dad and so my brother and my daughter, where/are fantastic and fanatic amateur photographers. It's in our genes, I suppose, a special need or something.
Living in Rotterdam -second largest city in the Netherlands and the biggest port of Europe- I not only get my inspiration from my hometown, but also from everything around me. The suburbs, the landscapes, the flowers in my little garden, my daughters, things, you name it.
Light and the effects of light always amaze me, therefor I like to work with it. Spotlight, back light, soft light, cloudy light, sunlight, hardly light. A nice thing of minor importance is that we all need light to make a photo. So at the end everything comes together.

Nelma's photography is a bright spot in a world of darkness. Her use of light is brilliant in both senses of the word. She chooses delicate and beautiful subjects that glow as if just for the viewer. The glimpses through her eyes into her world make you smile as if you were there.
