Andrew Raimist

Bio

An architect, writer, photographer, and teacher in Saint Louis, Missouri, Andrew is presently completing a manuscript for his biography & monograph on Saint Louis' first modern architect, Harris Armstrong. Andrew has had an deep interest in photography since his pre-teen years when he was given a twin-lens reflex camera. After graduating to a 35mm SLR, he worked as photo-editor for his high school yearbook (Middletown, New York). Since then, he's been shooting slides during travels to various part of the world including Peru, Brasil, Argentina, Spain, France, England, Italy, and Russia.

Over the past few decades, he's particularly focused on expressions of culture through architecture, art, and other forms of visual art. He has wide ranging interests encompassing ancient civilizations, 20th century global modernism, urban, suburban & rural settlements, natural & man-made landscapes, as well as vernacular, academic & avant-garde forms of expression.

The combination of joining Flickr in 2005 with the purchase of a digital camera has been a catalyst in his re-emerging dedication to photography.
