At age 7 when I first pressed a shutter button and then got those little black and white prints in my hands I was hooked. Over the years I've had various cameras and my time spent with photography ebbed and flowed as other priorities in life came and went. Then with the birth of my granddaughter I went out purchased my first digital camera (a 2 megapixel fixed lens dog). How amazing to have images on my computer in minutes. Then a couple of years later I purchased a better camera with zoom and manual settings (a much better 3 megapixel model). I still had fun but it wasn't till discovering Flickr last summer that my photography has become a passion and my skills have grown.
After a while on Flickr I discovered the Utata group and now have a great additional resource to grow as a photographer and artist. With my new 10 megapixel dSLR and the great community of sharing that I've found I know I have the tools I need to continue to improve my art and share it with others.
Ron's perspective about life, family, friends, and his surroundings are profoundly recorded in his images. What stands out for me in his image stream are the black and white portraits, which give me a sense of familiarity and warmth. Nice work Ron.
