I love taking photos, and have been doing it more seriously (ie, trying to learn, to sharpen my eye) for about a year. I recently took a black and white printing class, and since then have been taking many many photos.
I work as a social justice organizer on local media accountability campaigns in the US, so I'm very interested in the power of representation in different forms. Which would lead naturally to an interest in social documentary photography. And yet I find the pictures I take have few people in them and are largely focussed on beauty, shape and detail, without being (overtly) political...
