The variety of subjects within Dave's body of work represents not only the diversity of his interests in the world around him, but also the wonderful ability to effectively convey his vision of these subjects to the viewer.
Whether it is the set of images in "Retail Therapy" or the "Duck Race, New Year's Day 2006", one is led down a path by Dave that is celebratory in nature with respect to both common life occurrences, as well as annual events. There is much that would normally be seen on a daily and repetitive basis that is presented anew and with a refreshing perspective by him.
Dave's work in duotone displays an enormous amount of life and vibrancy. One would expect to receive such feelings only from full color photographs, not from monochrome images. Viewing "Hollyhock", "The Valley of Desolation" or "Pot Marigold" will provide enough evidence to confirm how vivid his black & white work really is.
Another important feature within Dave's work is his sense of and use of humor to lighten the atmosphere for both the photographer and the viewer. Wit has room to play and share space with his finest and more serious work.
