I started taking photographs at the age of eight and have continuously used cameras to document most of my youth and adult age. After fifteen years of abstinence, I took up photography again when I bought my first digital camera.
Virtually all my pictures have gone through an image processing workflow. This is because I see digital photography as a new medium that not only embraces photography, but also image processing (ranging from enhancement to heavy modification).
My intention in making pictures is to unveil what goes beyond merely perceiving - it is about what it takes to recognize, to realize, to understand and to appraise the inner nature of the people or objects I show. This means to learn and understand the very principles of aesthetics and how our brain processes, analyzes and categorizes what we see. At the end of this journey, I hope to provoke moments of satori in the recipient of my images.
Visiting the photostream of Timo is like visiting another world, full of colours, full of excitement and strange things you never knew existed.
Some of his photos remind me of Timothy Leary, stories of doing drugs, LSD, but he also has great graphic photos and some incredible dreamy winter photos.
It's fascinating to see the broad range of subjects he photographs, and to take a brief look at the world through his eyes. It's an exciting world!
