Siobhan Connally, AKA toyfoto, shoots mostly in black and white. Once I began looking at her sets, I had to see all of them. Slowly.
Her portraits are embraces -- they expand, they express a wholeness about the person that seems rare to me. This is true of her animal portraits as well. Each individual is unique; deeply portrayed, in her/his own particular place.
There is a sense of compassion in all of her work -- a compassion that softens, but does not veil, the hardness of some of her subjects.
I hate being on the lens side of a camera; if toyfoto lived near me, I would seek hers out.
