Born in The Netherlands as one of 6 kids from a Dutch Army father and an Indonesian mother, I moved frequently throughout Europe. Always in awe of the cultural, historical and architectural riches Europe has, I started to look at the world through a camera lens, following in the footsteps of my father. First using his hand-me-down all metal body Zenith camera, then switching to several Canon EOS 35mm cameras to the Digital Rebel I have now.
Flickr in general has shown me the incredible talent some people posess and a lot of the work I see from Utata members seems to be the cream of the crop, where it sometimes impossible to determine who is a professional photographer and who is an "amateur". One thing is certain, all of them are artists in their own right.
Now living and working in the Washington, DC Metro Area for over 5 years, I have been able to expand my viewfinder onto yet another one of the world's theaters. The world is a wonderful story book and photographs are the illustrations of those stories, frozen in time...
