There's been some discussion lately about "orphaned works" legislation. That a diligent search won't be able to find a web image's source. "TinEye" promises to render that argument moot.
In an unabashed celebration of science-geekery, Meera Sethi has turned her eye toward the under-appreciated museums of science and natural history, revealing a strange and wondrous beauty hidden among the carefully collected bones and the strange bottled specimens.
In a literal sense, pictures are static. Oh sure, the eyes on that wall-mounted portrait may seem to follow you around the room, but unless you're han

Utata is a community-based site (you can read about us here), meaning that it draws all of the daily blog and many of the other articles and features from the talent within the community. For everything except the projects and daily blog, you do not need to be a Utata member and, indeed, we accept unsolicited articles and queries from the general public for consideration. Utata has a large and quickly growing daily readership as well as a healthy subscription base. At present there are several ways that you can participate in utata.org.
utata.org is a fairly busy website with a steady, daily traffic. We blog a photo from the Utata pool most week days. Photographs which are blogged on utata will be viewed thousands of times each. To have your photograph blogged on Utata, all you have to do is join the Utata group on flickr and place one or more photographs in the pool. We check the pool every day to select a photograph to blog.
utata.org regularly publishes larger projects combining the work of many people and which are centered around a theme. Utata projects are well viewed and linked around the web and tend to generate a bit of positive buzz for the participants. Our first project, was chosen as a Yahoo! Pick and is still viewed several hundred times a day.
Participating in a project is very simple. Each project, when announced in the Utata group, will contain details of what the project is about and whether it's a full publication project (such as Movies) or a tagging project (such as Food Porn!). All you have to do is be a member of the Utata group and submit your photos for projects. In full publication projects, images are generally submitted in a thread in the Utata group. For tagging projects all you have to do is to tag your image on flickr with the correct tag or tags, as indicated in the project announcement or on the projects page.
If you want to show off your Utatan status on your flickr profile page or on your own blog, here's your chance.

Articles for the Concept feature revolve around a specific theme or intellectual concept. These are philosophical pieces, NOT technical articles. UtataBites are short pieces (soft limit of 500 words and four illustrative photographs) which address a specific topic of general photographic interest or answer an often asked question. Utata is always on the lookout for interesting and relevent material to publish for our reader's enjoyment, education and/or enlightenment. If you have an idea for a regular and recurring contribution, please submit a query by way of a brief explanation of your idea to the Managing Editor. See submission guidelines for further submission details.
We love original ideas since we've used up most of our own making this site. If you have a great idea for a project or other unique publication (Take a roat trip recently? Track down your family roots on the green hills of Eire? Recently move from one country to another? Find your grandmother's old love letters?) We want Utata to be full of unique and interesting things ... so .. what are you waiting for? Submit a query by way of a brief explanation of your idea to the Managing Editor. See submission guidelines for further submission details.
The Daily Link is intended to provide a bird's eye view of what's going on in the community - from the publishable antics of our members (when they've sold photos or gotten commissions or been exhibited, etc.) to the news of the photography industry to what and who is cool and hot. We're interested in any linkable tidbits such as articles, reviews, great blogs, cool photographers and all things technical. Submit links, information and ideas to the Publisher. See submission guidelines for further submission details.
