Autumn leaves - remembering Eva Cassidy
" 'Autumn Leaves' is a french song composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945. It was primarily a ballet music designed to be the 'generique' of the film ' Les Portes de la Nuit' . Its french title is Les Feuilles Mortes . It was sung by Yves Montand in the film, with lyrics by the poet Jacques Prevert. But the first performers who recorded it were Cora Vaucaire and Marianne Oswald. The first male singer was Jacques Douai in 1947. He was a modern minstrel,totally forgotten today."
