We tend to take photos from a "normal" perspective - that is how we see them in the real world.
But sometimes, the most compelling photos are taken with a perspective that is not "normal". Let's concentrate, specifically, on things photographed "from the top". That is, with a view that is as close to "dead on" as you can manage, just not from the front or the side as we are used to doing, but from the top.
I've seen some really good art photography and some very popular stock photographs that give us these unusual perspectives.
