luck or control

Alan Turner

The old New Zealand halfpenny features a Hei-tiki, a Maori talisman associated with ancestors, fertility and more recently luck, although I suspect this latter interpretation to be an excuse to sell trinkets to tourists.

Luck is evidence that the long tail of a distribution can touch anyone of us.
Can I control luck by dragging a talisman with me?
My answer is an emphatic no.
I can take some control of my life, tweak events to move the favourable outcomes toward the centre of the distribution and move the less favourable outcomes toward the long tail.

Created for Utata IP138 with the following elements:

1 - something intended to bring luck
2 - something used to repair stuff
3 - shot on a counter top
