Shot for the UTATA Iron Photographer 22 Project.
I've had the concept of this shot in my head for a while... everytime I tried to shoot it, I just wasn't happy with it (See one of my previous attempts here). I think this time I got it. I have a few other 'failed' attempts I will post later, but for now it's time to move on... I'm still stumped by Iron Photographer 19..
Here you see Scout taking watch over his domain, aka our backyard. He's ever diligent to make sure the piegon's don't exceed his maximum occupany numbers.
Here are the elements for Iron Photographer 22:
1 - grass
2 - something shimmery
3 - shallow depth of field
By grass, we don't mean the stuff you bought by the ounce from your room-mate's friend (that was probably mostly oregano anyway). We're talking about the stuff that comprises a lawn, or the stuff on which sheep and horses graze. You know...grass.
The second element, something shimmery is pretty much wide open. All we require is that it shimmers. According to the OED, that means something that reflects or shines with a tremulous or flickering light.
Finally, a shallow depth of field means the area in focus is shallow.
