According to the dictionary, the word "jeans" comes from the city of Genoa. But, as any fule kno, jeans are American. They're international and ubiquitous but they're still resolutely and reliably American. Jeans means cowboys. Hipsters wear them. Vicars wear them. Hipster vicars wear them. I'm pretty certain that somewhere in the world there's a hipster cowboy vicar wearing them. I'm wearing them right now. You can wear them with crisp white shirts or a greasy vest. They're jeans when they're clean and they're jeans when they're dirty. They're even jeans when they're falling apart. And you don't have to wear them to photograph them. Be a cowboy and show us your jeans. Or somebody else's.
