In 1975 freedom was a multi-speed bike and a two tone bulb horn. In 2008, obligation is the operation and maintenance of a 13 year old car that I just can't part with.
For the "Past and Present" project, I have paired my wheels from the '70s to my current ride. I have emulated the distinctive cropping and colour cast of the past to provide some continuity of...umm... style?
The past pic was snapped with a drug store compact camera that took 110 cartridge film. The setting was the backyard of my grandparent's home in Ontario.
The present pic was snapped with my D80 in Golden Ears Provincial Park near Vancouver BC. Unfortunately, neither redwood patio furniture nor colourful patio tiles were available at the park for this recreation.
Take Two 7 will be a bit different, and will require revisiting and rephotographing an archival photograph of your own. Inspired by the popular Youngme / Nowme project, this is your opportunity to show how time has changed things, or how some things never change! It doesn't have to be a childhood photo, but could be a building or landscape or still life or pet - as long as it is something from your past (and is your photo). Use your imagination! A photo originally taken in China could be paired with a recreation of that photo from Chinatown. Pair the two as a diptych for the final flashback/flashforward.
