Lichfield Cathedral, UK
This image has been shot as an example of the rule of thirds, with the left and right hand arches sitting neatly on the grid, and the body of the far window sitting right in the middle of the lower horizontal line.
A subtle attempt to cheat the rule of thirds while remaining compositionally interesting. While the image is dominated by the strong horizontal axis through the centre of the roof, outlying areas of tone and chiaroscuro are moving into the left and right hand thirds on a diagonal line, therefore complying to a small degree with the rule of thirds.
