Photo #1: For the birds

utata rule of thirds project. This one, I had the rule of thirds in mind and wanted to put the boy's hand at one of the intersections of the thirds lines witth the airborne seagulls at the other to emphasize the tossing of the bread.

Photo #2: Leaving the scene

Utata thirds project. Here the subject, and the action, is at the border. By placing the surfer, who is definitely the subject of the shot at the border -- indeed partly out of the frame, I tried to create an amusing tension in the photo. The subject should be at the thirds line but has stepped out of place and out of the photo. He's emphasized and his departure is emphasized because of where he is not.
