Easy

Linus Gelber

I am looking forward to autumn - it has always been my favorite season, a time of busying against the coming cold. Sometimes it's a welcome pause after a busy boisterous summer.

This year I feel like I hardly saw the summer: it was so overwhelmingly hot that I found my joys indoors, with the air conditioner gossiping in the background. I went to the movies a lot. I don't think I can remember a summer when I was outside less.

We saw the signs, but didn't want to read them too closely. By late April, the early May cherry blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden were already past their peak, falling in cotton-candy speckles on the main lawn. This might have been my best summer afternoon in New York in 2010, spent in happy company in the warm hands of spring.
