Ghostly Chemical Plant

Sezgin Ismail

I find myself haunted by this factory which dominates the villages of Anderton and Winnington. I feel compelled to photograph it pretty much whenever I go past. Today it was very noisy. I am guessing that they were drilling for salt. One day I might see if I can arrange a visit and persuade them to tell me about what they do.

I believe this plant is owned by Tata Chemicals Europe (formerly Brunner Mond (UK) Limited) is a UK-based chemicals company that is a subsidiary of Tata Chemicals Limited, itself a part of the India-based Tata Group. Its principal products are soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and associated alkaline chemicals en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunner_Mond
