flowers in the grass: cosmos

barbara ender

I visited the 19th-century American painting exhibition at the Hermitage; afterwards wandered through the gardens and the woods down to town.
The grass here reminds me of the background of the painting on show by Louis Comfort Tiffany of The Reaper sharpening his scythe: just tiny streaks of paint when you look close up. (I never knew that LCT started his career as a painter).
