This fracture was created, not by natural causes or by an art-hating deity, but by the Colombian sculptor Doris Salcedo for the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern.
According to the Artist:
"Is entitled "Shibboleth" and represents the divisions between creed, colour, class and culture that maintain our social order, precariously balanced as it on the precipice of a chaotic void of hatred. It's about racism and segregation"
