A portfolio is a reflection of the work that the photographer feels best represents him or her as an artist. A portfolio can reflect many different styles, from wedding photography to street photography to abstract photography. But taken as a whole, the portfolio is the "voice" of the artist. These are the ones they'd print and mat and put into their portfolio case - the best of the best of the best, as it were.
