Priorities

Linus Gelber

On this overcast day, gray and full of scattered rain, I walk back to the subway after a shop stop at the remarkable B&H Photo. I sometimes think that this block, 34th Street between Eight and Ninth, must be one of the most photographed in the City, not because it is more spectacular than any other block, but because that's where photographers find themselves.

I meet a nice girl as I'm taking this picture - she's curious about what exactly I'm shooting at, what with all the back and forth under the bare tree branches. We talk for a good 15 or 20 minutes, but I don't hear from her again. New York is like that.

Tech specs: Canon Digital Rebel XT, 1/125 second, f/13, 50mm lens.

This picture has been spotted as high as #13 on the Interestingness charts.
