I've been creating digital photographic collages off and on since I first started using Photoshop in 1997. Recently I've been doing a lot of it. Some of the work I'm doing lately is for specific contests or projects in different Flickr groups. This particular piece I did just for this Utatan project.
I use a variety of techniques in different styles when I create a collage. Sometimes it can be very complex and sometimes it can appear like a simple photographed scene, even though a lot of work went into it. In this piece titled "The Angel of Death", I took a nude image of one of my models and superimposed some detail of an old tombstone onto him. The particular stone had a lot of green moss growing on it which I really liked so I carried the color through the entire image. The wings were also a detail on a stone, so I cut them out as wings and placed them on the figure in a deliberate way to make the figure look like it was made of stone. All of the other parts of the image I added several weeks after I created the figure to make into a more complete composition for this Utatan project.
