The child in the audience smiles from ear to ear because he sees something that the adults don't see—something he's never seen before. And it makes him happy. If I learned anything from the circus and waching my son experience it, it was that this does not change as you grow older. What does change is the list of things you've already experienced.

While there is a nice warm feeling that comes with familar experiences, real happiness comes when you complement them with new experiences. By continuing to seek out new experiences, a person can forever perpetuate that child-like wonder that comes with the first trip to the circus.
