It was a great day, the sky was bright, the clouds few, and the ocean swells gentle. She had been waiting for this. She boarded the boat, a small fishing boat that would hug the shore, trying to secure the best location. She scouted, looked, watched, and waited for what felt like hours before, off in the distance, doting the horizon, she saw it-a small fin rising up between the waves, hugging the current, headed towards the bay. She knew they had to reach that inlet before it was too late. The pod swam fast, almost too fast for the junket to keep up but, somehow, the boat managed to wrangle into the bay. She donned her snorkel mask and jumped over the side. This was the moment she had waited for, this was the moment she would make contact. Once underwater, she made eye contact and waited. The majestic creature of the sea, the dolphin, swam up to her. They connected. She passed him a leaf, he took it and made a squeaking noise, as if to say, "Hello!" It was magic. She returned to her hotel knowing she had finally swam with the dolphins in the great blue sea. She entered her hotel room, picked up the remote and turned on the TV. A man came on, offering political commentary, "There's war in the middle east, prices are rising, politicians are lying," the man on the TV rages. "The entire world is crazy!" The man on the TV rants, "it's all nuts out there. There's not an intelligent creature left on this planet..." She thinks about the man on the TV. She thinks about the dolphin. She pushes the button on the remote to change the TV channel. I change the ocean and the ocean changes me.
